Governor Perdue Moves to Unite Child Welfare Agencies

On Thursday, January 17, 2008, Governor Perdue announced that the Georgia Children's Trust Fund Commission and the Children and Youth Coordinating Council will be merged into a newly organized Governor's Office for Children and Families. This action presents a step toward addressing the needs of all at-risk, abused, and delinquent children throughout the state of Georgia with a consistent, unified voice.

GOCF will carry out its mission through the Caring Communities for Children project, a plan that will proactively target communities in need in order to engage that community in prevention efforts. Through a community-based continuum of care, prevention services will be accessible to the general population, at-risk families, and to families in the child welfare and juvenile justice system in order to improve outcomes for children and families.

Details will be announced soon about the application process for new funding. Thank you for your continued service to the children and families of Georgia. For more about the newly formed Governor's Office for Children and Families please follow the link below to read the full press release.
